Adoption Order

An adoption order is the final legal step in the adoption process.

It makes the adopters the child’s legal parents.

Parental responsibility transfers fully to the adoptive parents.

The legal relationship with the birth parents ends.

It is granted after the child has lived with the adopters for a period of time (at least 10 weeks).

In simple terms: an adoption order legally completes the adoption.
